Pre-Step to Authoring Any Component

Adding components to the page

Option 1: Add the component to the page by left-clicking on the mouse to see the toolbar.

Option 1: Use the parsys toolbar's plus sign to add a component to the page.

Click the plus icon to add the component. Once selected, a list of components will display for the author to select.

Option 2: Add the component to the page by using the sidekick/siderail, found to the left of the editing page. Select the Components tab. Within the tab, scroll to find the component, or type to search. 

Option 2: The sidebar with a list of components, which can be drag-and-dropped onto the page.

Authoring tools

To author a component, click on the component to reveal the Edit Toolbar. The toolbar may contain the options displayed in the image below.

  • Pencil – Allows the author to edit the text directly on the page without opening the authoring dialog.
  • Wrench – Opens the authoring dialog to edit the content.
  • Copy – Allows the author to copy the component. Learn more about copy/pasting components in the Moving and Copying Pages guide.
  • Cut – Allows the author to cut the component off the template.
  • Trash – Allows the author to delete the component.
  • Plus Sign – Allows the author to add a component to the template.
  • Paste – Allows the author to paste a copied component. Learn more about copy/pasting components in the Moving and Copying Content guide.
  • Group – Allows the author to group components. Once grouped, components may be copy/pasted together.
  • Parent – Allows the author to navigate to the parent Container of the currently selected component while in edit mode.
  • Convert to Experience Fragment Variation – Converts the component to an Experience Fragment that can be used again on other pages. Learn more about Experience Fragments in the Experience Fragments guide.
  • Layout - Allows the content authors to control how the component is displayed and positioned within the page or container. Not likely to be used.
